Refashioned antique coat

This coat from the end of the 1800s was unwearable. The silk had perished due to the practice of putting metal filings into the silk to make it rustle and weigh more. 

The lace was still in good order and had to be cut away from the silk and then sewn onto a completely newly made velvet jacket. 

The client was delighted with the result.
